[MW:6328] RE: 6323] Porosity in Aluminium welding Reg.,

Dear Friends

For Aluminium welding following  Good Engg practices are recommended

i)                    Humidity level preferably kept below  50% in case of  Pur Al welding

ii)                    Tungstun  electrodes are ground  to rounded tip and NOT  sharp one

iii)                 Use AC power source with DC suppressor

iv)                 Welding wire should be cleaned before welding, some time passivated by   using hot   caustic solution.

v)                    Weld edges  should be smooth draw filed ( No serration )

vi)                 Some time Dye penetrant  remains in pores causing Porosity if not cleaned properly . ( Hence Good old practice of Kerosene / chalk pwder being used in place of regular dye)

Subject: [MW:6323] Porosity in Aluminium welding Reg.,

Dear All,

What are all the probable reasons for getting porosity in aluminium welding, other than weather conditions,   here both material and filler are 99.7% Pure Aluminium.

Please share with any type of reason.
