Yes, that the correct choice with respect to welding consumable. However it's a bad design with respect to materials selection if the Duplex Stainless Steel is the major pressure boundary materials and a part of the process stream.

API steels may be welded to DSS as support , under proper cathodic protection environments, not as direct Butt-Joints with the same process parameter envelopes.

Dear Colleague;

 

 

I have a question ,please i want to know how to select the filler metal to weld dissimilar metal ,because i have WPS , the information :  P1 to P10H ,Grade API 5L,PSL 2  , X65Q to Grade ASME A790 S31803 and  i found the electrode ER2209 for root and E2209-16 for fill is this selection acceptable or not i need advice  .

I review ASME IX but i didn't find any information about this.
