Please refer API 1104, Clause 5.4, where it is not an essential variable for procedure qualification. However, restrictions are applied in case used, to have a sufficient load bearing weld length before removal of the clamps.

Also, the pipe diameters used in cross country pipelines can be from 20 inch to 50 inch where manual activities becomes unsafe and unproductive.

In (2)also the branch joint with mother pipe is a pressure joint and the
pad is a non pressure part.
So can the joint between mother and branch pipe be considered for PWHT
thickness?
Is there any interpretations available.
