RE: [MW:26843] regareding taper burning of electrode

Dear Friend and Expert

Regarding to Radiographic Testing (RT) of weld

1)     Does any codes / stands mentioned how to selection of film type/class like carbon steel and stainless steel?

2)     On the heavy wall thickness plat 70 mm (Sphere Tank) welded by SMAW testing by PAUT were found a lot of defects but re-test by RT Ir-192 doesn't found any things, Any opinions to recommend

Thanks and Best Regards

Its manufacturing defect of consumable manufacturer.

Please tell your consumable manufacturer to replace the defective batch.

Hi

I believe it's due to non concentric flux coating of electrodes. It's a manufacturing defect.

Take few electrodes from the pocket inspect visually and measure it's flux coating thickness through vernier caliper and you will find uninformed coating.
