Visible patch of weld  [in the repaired area] is not practically completely avoided 
You may reduce the extent of visible difference by:

- Use of recommended preheat[as qualified by your WPS]
- Use of multi layer weld [at least 3 or 4 layer] [good practice is to use deep excavation & fill with min 3 layer]
- Use of PWHT as per qualified procedure, even if the repair is of minor.

You can always convince your client as weld repair is permitted, and you have met all the requirements of qualified WPS that is used.  additionally you can check the hardness at the weld and when it is acceptable to the governing specification, then this color difference/patch would not be a issue.
