[MW:25659] Re: 25657] Welding on Super duplex material by hyper duplex filler wires

Client insist to use the HD filler wire on Superduplex material.

They selected HD Filler Wire on the basis of the following parameters:
  • Excellent resistance to pitting corrosion
  • Excellent resistance to stress corrosion cracking (SCC) in chloride containing environments
  • High resistance to general corrosion in acidic environments
  • Excellent resistance to erosion corrosion
  • Extremely high mechanical strength

Hi Pankaj,

What's the rationale behind selecting 2707 HD filler for 2507 filler metal, knowing the facts that in almost 100% of the cases, matching 2507 filler would meet or exceed the design requirements of 2507 base metals. What 's the  reactor  involved including the design requirements ? These would be the guiding factors for selecting matching or superior grades of welding consumables.

Your responses would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Dear Expert,

As precautionary measure we have selected Hyper Duplex 2707 as welding material for the reactor. In principle 2707 HD is considered as a grade higher than 2507 as far as PREN is concerned, owing to which we brought it into the picture.

We wish to know your feedback on the quality of welding attained with this combination and corrosion resistance of weld joints as it goes through heat transition during welding.
