Re: [MW:25752] dissimilar thickness welding

Dear Sir

Thanks a lot for the reply .... the code is AWS D1.1 , can i prepare wps for this dissimilar thickness(6mm to 5mm ) as per AWS D1.1

according to which standard? ASME IX or EN 15614-1?
Assuming ASME IX and Pno 1 (I cant remember if 355J2 and 355JRis listed in ASMEIX)
with 5 mm to 6mm in PQR, the WPS ranges will be:
Thickness of thinner member : 1,5 to 10 mm
Thickness of thicker member 1,5 to 12 mm
In case when impact test is required:
the minimum for the thicker member will be 3 mm and for the thinner 2,5 mm.
In case of En 15614-1, no provision for dissimilar thickness

i need to prepare a WPS for plate 355j2 and S355JR thickness 5 mm. but i cant find 5mm plate for 355j2 grade. so can go for dissimilar thickness as 5mm S35Jr and 6mm S355J2 then what would be the thickness qualified range and impact testing requirement.
