[MW:24625] API 1104 appendix b, face bend test

Dear Expertise

As per API 1104 appendix b for branch joint test we have to do 4 face bend, but as per figure B-5 face bend test specimen, the weld and branch is totally removed. No weld remains after ground flush as per drawing. So if weld removed nothing to be tested except the base metal. Why the test is like that? what the idea behind such test.
