[MW:23444] RE: 23430] Re: Vacuum pack welding electrodes

Regarding rebaking: the electrodes themselves are similar to other basic coated electrodes. If they are exposed to the atmosphere for more than the period recommended by the manufacturer (ESAB say 12 hours) then they need to be rebaked at about 350 deg C for 2 hours. For ESAB consumables see the following link: http://www.esab.co.kr/Web-App/Upload/2012/04/05/Storage%20and%20Handling%20Recommandations%20Consumable.pdf

Low hydrogen vacuum pack electrodes

It can be used without baking subject to intact packing . Keeping in view of practical problem of rebacking in project site where, every time controlling of rebacking is not possible, results hydrogen induced defects may be occur. To get rid of such problems we can use vacuum packed electrode. This vacuum pack will not only retain the minimum hydrogen level but also become ease to use the electrode without expensive rebacking at remote. It  can be put in portable oven maintaining temperature 70-80ยบ C ready to use.

But consumable should be properly vacuum packed as per process.

 Advantage:

·         No need of rebacking means we can save electricity and time.

·          Reduction of Hydrogen induced crack.

·          To get minimum Hydrogen level in weld metal.

Dear Experts,

Can anybody from our experts,  share some information regarding vacuum pack low hydrogen electrode. Specially about the baking of this electrodes,  if left out.
