Re: [MW:3996] P1 Gr1 PQR with impact will support P1/S1 Gr2 material?

Vasanth,

Please review the PQR MTC.. is there any chance that ur mill certs have dual classification...I am sure some of the reputed mfr classify the material as per API and ASME too..

If yes, there is no need for new qualification & but you need to revise the PQR.

Orelse, qualify a new procedure along PTC for Gr2 HAZ impact test..

Friends,

I have come across a typical issue as below,

Material is API 5L X-65 –
S No 1 Gr.2
Impact required at -29 deg.C
Welding as per ASME Sec IX

I have a PQR which is SA 106 Gr B (P1 Gr 1) Impact tested at
-30 deg.C

Can I support this PQR for S1 Gr 2 or P1 Gr 2? My client is
rejected this and asking for PQR which was done on Group 2 materials either on
S1 or P1.

Could you let me know, since my client is seeking evidence
as per Sec IX? How to convince them that Gr 1 impact tested can also be used
for Gr 2 materials.

Regards,

Vasanth
