[MW:2613] RE: 2611] Use of LTCS Material lower temperature than allowed in code

Prasad,

It is true that The A333 gr. 6 material can be used at temperature at
-60 Deg C. with impact testing the base material at -60 deg C. But this
is an additional testing requirement addition to standard impact testing
temperature as specified in ASTM A333 . Which will lead to cost and
delivery impact.

Rather It is not required to additionally impact test the material for
use at -60 deg.C if the Note 3 of Table 323.2.2 , which states the
material can be use till -104 Deg C if the Stress ratio defined in Fig.
323.2.2B does not exceeds 0.3.

Makarand if you colud calculate and confirm that your stress ratio is
less than 0.3, then ASME 31.3 allows you to use A333 material below -50
degC.
