[MW:3448] Re: Qualification of cladded base metal

Hi tong,

You have to qualify the procedure as the same configuration of production. For cladded and buttered configuration you have to make the same test coupon and weld. You have to confiy the chemistry also at the root.

Dear All,

I have one query regarding welding qualification of cladded base metal. Our first base metal is Stainless steel 316L to weld with second base metal P5A cladded with Stainless steel 316L. A layer of ENiCrMo-3 was buttered on bevel of second base metal by other. As i know a layer of ENiCrMo-3 act as barrier layer. The problem is how to qualify the welding procedure on stainless steel 316L to P5A cladded with Stainless steel 316L. Is it i need to qualify  P5A cladded with Stainless steel 316L or Stainless steel 316L to inconel ENiCrMo-3 or Stainless steel 316L to Stainless steel 316L procedure. I really need your advice and expertise. What is the best practice or code requirement on qualification of cladded base metal. Advance thank for your kind cooperation and really appreciated
Regards
Tong2je
