Re: [MW:32347] Sulfuric acid drum nozzle problem

Dear zohair, Thank you for your help! We have decided to use SS316 steel instead of carbon steel. Problem is actually because of sulphuric acid corrosion. Kind regards, 1 Nisan 2021 PerÅŸembe tarihinde saat 09:51:58 UTC+3 itibarıyla Zohair.O ÅŸunları yazdı: Hi everyone,  Sulfuric acid is very tricky when we talk about corrosivity because it depends on many factors ( concentration, temperature, velocity ... etc). For the concentration of 98% generally, it's better to use the SS316 instead of carbon steel for pipes, and you may use the carbon steel tanks with SS clad or overlaid nozzles.  I thank the problem is mainly related to material selection.     you can consult the NACE Standard related to sulfuric acid storage tank inspection.  Z.O Le mercredi 31 mars 2021 à 04:14:02 UTC+1, chandrakant mohikar a écrit : Nozzle failed means, what exactly happened.?  if no flow through nozzle means, it is choked. it should be dechoked and material like dirt etc to be removed, another reason may b...

[MW:32337] AWS D1.1 vs AWS B2.1

Hi there, Can I use AWS B2.1 for identifying the material grouping while preparing AWS D1.1 WPS? AWS D1.1 got a material grouping  and AWS B2.1 also have material grouping,  could some one please confirm  AWS D1.1 and AWS B2.1 is same grouping ? if your answer is YES I went  through AWS D1.1: 2020 Table 5.3 (Table 5.3 - Approved Base Metals for Prequalified WPSs (see 5.3))   found out API 5L X52 is a Group II material Then i went to AWS B2.1   Table C.1 -- List of Base Metal Specifications—Ferrous Alloys  :  found out API 5L X52 is a Group I material.
