Dear Experts,
I have a situation on structural member doubler plate welding.
We have to weld doubler plate welding with existing deck leg. During field survey we noticed that there is existing butt weld in deck leg, and doubler plate welding will be on top of same existing weld. Like welding on top of welding area. In that case we can flush grind existing butt weld and will do required NDT then proceed.
But is it code allowed welding on top of welding?
Srinivas.
