I did not get the responses to my earlier queries.
Please find the recommended or desirable properties for this steel as per the data sheets from https://www.sfsa.org. The ductility of this steel at the asked hardness values of 250-300 BHN could be very poor if the hardness is close to 300 BHN. Hence a balance between hardness and ductility(%EL) is always desired.
Take a look at the data sheet and use this at your discretion.
Important texts are highlighted for guidance.
Thanks.

What's the tempering cycle being proposed by the vendor?
What's the component.
Hardness in the vicinity of 270 HB is not unusual for this material. In fact NACE MR 0175 mandates much lower hardness.
In fact the chemical composition is also essential, especially "C".
Could you please post those details.
Thanks.

Subject: [MW:27842] What is the tempering temperature followed to meet mechanical properties of CA15 castings-reg
Dear friends,
We have been procuring ASTM A 217-CA15 castings form foundries. While checking raw material certificate the hardness and mechanical values are not meeting the ASTM A 217 –CA15 standard, our requirement of hardness = 250-300 BHN, T.S = 620-795MPa, YS=450MPa minimum, while enquiring the foundry they told that 260-270 HBW will be achieved but TS & YS could not achieved. Can you help us what is the tempering temperature to be followed to achieve the required hardness & mechanical properties? Kindly do the needful.
Regards,
