Re: [MW:25895] Individual Welding Process Thickness Range Limit

You have to take into account that in ASME IX the base metal thickness is quit different from deposited thickness.
So the base metal thickness, based on that PQR, is determined my the 23,82 mm.
So your base metal thickness approval range (no impact) would be the same as previously

Dear Sir

Please support us for below concern:

i carried out PQR with GTAW & SMAW (No Impact, GTAW deposit weld is 5 mm & SMAW deposit weld is 42.64 mm), the test coupon is 23.82mm so the qualified thickness range will be 5 to 47.64 mm.

If i want to make new WPS based on the above PQR (GTAW WPS), is it permissible to put qualified thickness range to be 1.5 to 10 mm based on GTAW deposit weld (5mm)?
Please support with evidence

Regards
