Re: [MW:15208] Screening wire cracking

Mr.  Rehman,

I assume the process followed by you for  the wire-mesh welding could be Resistance Projection Welding.  A  reason for wire cracking could be due excessive heat and subsequent hardness built up at the junction during welding.

Hence, please check up the welding cycle parameters including  current, squeeze, weld
time,, pressure etc., to understand the main cause of the problem.

Subject: [MW:15181] Screening wire cracking

Dear All,

The photo attached herein showing the wire for screening meshes,we are facing the problem of cracking of wire after the crimping (a process which is to make meshes from wire).

Can anybody suggest any test method to determine the reason of cracking ?

Is it have any ASTM methods are available ?

The standard for producing the meshes are the following

BS 7372:Part 3 /ISO 4783-3 - Choice of aperture size and wire diameter combinations for industrial wire screens and woven wire cloth.

DIN 1SO 14315 - Industrial wire screens technical requirement and testing.

The chemical and mechanical properties are conform to DIN 17223 Part 1 class A.

Thanking you in advance
