[MW:1763] R: 1755] Re: Please reply this mail

Dear Jivan,

it's the first mail I send to this forum (entered a few days ago..I do not
know even if it's correct to reply to this address….): regarding your query
about DFT, a GE O&G standard requires -10% +40% on each layer DFT, 12944-5
Sect.5.4 says -20% and +300%: personally I think Customer Specs, Paint
Manufacturer Specs, direct experience on each equipment are all relevant
topics to be considered for every application.

You can also refer to ISO 2808 for methods.

And…pay attention always to guarantees/durabilities…

Alessandro

Hi Jivan,

With respect to your query 2 ( Tolerance for a Given DFT measurement),
please refer Para 5.2 of SSPC-PA 2 of SSPC Painting manual Volume 2.

Dear Friend,

For all kind of NDT U CAN TAKE HELP BY ASME SECTION IX(QW-(302,
190)) & ASME SECTION V(ARTICLE-5). I KNOW ONLY THIS. I THINK THIS
WILL SOLVE UR PROBLEM.

REGARDS,

Dear Mr.Jivan,
Pneumatic testing of reinforcing pad is npt mandatory . But you need to see
the purpose being served by the pad. If it is a pad to attach a structural
part where no through opening is made, it is not required. However if there
is a through opening and such opening is being reinforced with a pad, you
need to examine the weld integrity between the pad and the branching nozzle
. Therefore it is a standrd practice to do pneumatic test of such pad and
you will be able to see the weld at Pad to Nozzle , Pad to mother pipe /
veseel which is typically a fillet weld and if accessible , you also can
see the weld of branch nozzle to main pipe/ vessel examining at inside .
I beleive that underlying inetent of test is realised now.

Tagore

First of all sorry to disturb u, as i have seen you have sent answer of lot
of queries from you people for that once again i am requesting u to reply
the below queries. If my question is not correct then let me know means i
will correct it.

Dear Friends (Dated :- 18/02/2009)

I would like to know whether Pneumatic Test of Reinforcement Pad for branch
connection of Process Piping is mandatory as per ASME B31.3. I searhed but I
could not found any paragraph in ASME B31.3.

Dear Friends ( Dated :- 03/03/2009)

I would like to know the maximum acceptable Dry Film Thickness of the paint
in % or micron for a given DFT. As per my previous experience (where I
worked) as per specification that was plus/minus 30% of the total paint DFT
was accptable. But I couldn't found any code or standard documents related
to the maximum acceptable dry film thickness of the paint.

If you have any code or standard then let me know the same means i can refer
same. i need this information for piping job as well as tank job.

Regards

Jivan Dhamane

Heat tint (temper) colours on stainless steel surfaces heated in air // Heat tint

Introduction The colour formed when stainless steel is heated, either in a furnace application or in the heat affected zone of welds, is dependent on several factors that are related to the oxidation resistance of the steel. The heat tint or temper colour formed is caused by the progressive thickening of the surface oxide layer and so, as temperature is increased, the colours change.   Oxidation resistance of stainless steels However, there are several factors that affect the degree of colour change and so there is no a single table of colour and temperature that represents all cases. The colours formed can only be used as an indication of the temperature to which the steel has been heated. Factors affecting the heat tint colours formed Steel composition The chromium content is the most important single factor affecting oxidation resistance. The higher the chromium, the more heat resistant the steel and so the development of the heat tint colou...

Re: [MW:10788] ON PLOT PIPING & OFF PLOT PIPING

Piping systems involved for the flow lines and gathering lines from the well head isolation valve to the production facility or processing plant isolation valve are determined as OFF PLOT. ON PLOT defines piping system in the processing plant and production platform. ANSI/ASME B31.4 applies for off plot piping system. B31.4 allows the use of either API 1104 or ASME section IX (as appropriate). However, occasionally, a very small system such as piping within 500 feet of a processing plant (some client also said 400 feet) may be declared B31.3 rather than B31.4. When B31.3 is invoked, only ASME Section IX is used. before you decide which code to use for welding procedure and/or welder qualification for pipe welding, you have to know the design and construction code applicable to the system. Please read far enough into scope and diagram illustrating the application of either B31.3 and B31.4 hope this helps rgds 2011/4/21 pradip kumar sil < pradipsil@gmail.com > Dear all, ...
