[MW:1704] Re: minimum length

Dear Md. Javeed,

Though you have already received some reply, yet I want to highlight
some more points.
There may be something in some international standards, which I dont
know. But in some cases we cannot avoid welding of two joints nearby;
Tee joints in Tanks, welding of ERW pipes, Fabricated reducers, RF
pads, etc. API 650 allows Tee joints for lower thickness even without
radiography (may be not directly related to the subject, but somehow
relevant). It means we accept nearby joints also, if required. I can
inform the requirement of Borealis and Tecnimont specs (since
presently I am dealing with), which may be helpful to you, as I guess
you are asking the difference between two parallel butt joints (most
probably piping). Borealis specs asking for a minimum distance of 50
mm, whereas Tecnimont specs is little more descriptive. It states that
the minimum distance between two girth or miter joints with no PWHT
shall be at least 2.5 times (6 times for butt welds) the pipe wall
thickness with a minimum of 50 mm but the distannce between two non
parallel welds can be 25 mm.

Regards,
R. Bose
