Re: [MW:35534] SAW Welding Flux and Wire Combinations: Clarifications

Flux manufacturer they will tested as weld and PWHT condition , they will mention on bag.
In my company EASB brand F7A4 EH 14 using. In this flux PWHT condition F7P6EH14.

So you have to ask manufacturer PWHT condition. They'll give PWHT condition in certificate.

As per my knowledge flux designation should be certify by manufacturer not user.

If you using different manufacturers flux and wire , you have to establish WPS based on combination.

I hope you understand my answer.

Following is example to explain the conditions

 Condition 1

As per manufacturer (Say manufacturer ABC) the Flux and Wire combination mentioned on the data sheet and bag of flux is F7A8-EH12K and is inline with the ASME Sec II Part C SFA 5.17

Where "A" is as welded condition

PQR was qualified with PWHT using above mentioned manufacturers flux wire combination.

Question

1.       Can I write on my PQR and WPS write the Flux wire classification as F7P8-EH12K

2.       Batch of flux and wire used in PQR shall only be used in Production welding.

Condition 2

I use a Flux from manufacturer ABC and wire from manufacturer XYZ. Manufacturer ABC who is the manufacturer of Flux has certified the flux on bag as F7A8-EH12K (when I say this, I mean the manufacturer ABC has used both flux and wire from manufacturer ABC)

My actual conditions are I am using different manufactures for flux and wire to qualify PQR

PQR was qualified with PWHT

Question

1.       Can I use different manufacturer for flux and wire

2.       Can I write on my PQR and WPS write the Flux wire classification as F7P8-EH12K

3.       Batch of flux and wire used in PQR shall only be used in Production welding.

Appreciate your advice for me to understand and if any reference document which I can review of the subject to clarify.
