I'm working on a project involving ERZr-2 overlay on 316L stainless steel using the GTAW process. As many of you know, zirconium is highly reactive—metallic contamination and overheating can easily cause cracks or oxidation that affect weld quality. We've tried ERNi-1 (nickel) as a buffer layer, but experienced crystallized cracking and gummy melting, leading to lack of fusion. . --
