Re: [MW:33667] Painting on flange serrations

Hi
By mistake or not protecting (no masking tape) the serrated surface, the painting contractor might be painted, surface preparation and painting is not allowed on serrated surfaces.

During transportation after manufacturing, the serrated surfaces should be applied with corrosion protective coatings for preservation until usage.

Good day Gents,

I would like to understand from the experts on the below.

1. Is painting on the flange serrations for both RF and FF flanges allowed. If yes which code/specifications mandates it and if no which code/specifications mandates it.

2. Is there a way to do preparation for painting on the serrations without damaging the serrations.

Best Regards,
Madhan
