Delta ferrite reduce ductility and mechanical properties. What Pradeep explained is the manufacturing scenario.
--Dear PradipPlease note that the issue is not narrower or wider composition range but is the reason for acceptable level of Cr,Ni.I found that stainless steel castings require delta ferrite for strengthening because there is no way to hot work or heat treatment to increase strength level, so increasing Cr and decreasing Ni level promotes delta ferrite.Actually austenitic stainless steel castings have duplex structure, also delta ferrite has adverse effects on forgeability of stainless steels and limits forging temperature (but I don't know what is adverse effect and how much temperature limit), so delta ferrite should be limited in forgings by decrease Cr level and increase Ni level to decrease delta ferrite. In the meantime I found that delta ferrite increase weld ability of castings, would you please let me know how and why?Regards,Himan Nikdin
Sent from my iPhone--Castings are manufactured by "Melting & pouring "Technique. Alloy losses are more in during casting; hence the compositional range is wider.
Materials chosen for forging already will have some preset compositions, not the same as casting where the composition is to be finalized, when the liquid metal is to be poured. Hence the range could be narrower.
Thanks.

Would you please for the reason?

not only Cr is higher but also Ni is lower.

Dear Experts
Good day!!!
I'll highly appreciated if you share your valuable ideas regarding reason for difference between Cr content range in A351 CF8M and A182F316 which is 18-21% and 16-18% respectively.
Regards,
H.Nikdin
