such weld overlaps are not recommende due to
1) close proximty weld and over laps produce undersired hard HAZ which could lead to cracks.
2) leaks if any from overlapped welds go undetected. (IF OVERLAPPED BY PADS).
SOLUTIONS
1) if overlaps unavoidable, with clients concurrence, shoot rt or ut of weld to be overlapped.
2) in your case you can make a semi circular or rectangular notch on shoes ( like rat holes) to avoid overlapping the welds.
