[MW:20122] Confirmation of Intergranular corrosion stainless steel

As per ASME standard we have to check grain boundry at 20x or 200x on optical microscope. But optical microscope not giving details about phase formation at grain boundry. My question is, Only on the basis of optical image we are not decided perfectly, corrosion is at grain boundry. Alternate solution for IGC confirmation is SEM (SCANNING ELECTRON MICROSCOPY) for detail phases present at grain boundry. But in code is only talking about optical image. Suggest me.
