Re: [MW:17857] Yeild Stength Testing SA 516 Gr 70

Dear friend,
There is two general kind of yield behaviors:
- Continuous
- Non continuous
In the 1st type we can not specify a single specific point for the yield so we set a point based on standards often at 0.2% of total strain or deformation. Sometimes this point may differs so the applicable standard will specify the point.

To specify a 0.2% yield point you need the total strain or elongation after rupture. More on this could be find in ASM metals handbook, Mechanical testing.

Regards

Dear Expert
.
Why 0.2 % offset taken to determination of yield strength
Also 0.2% offset how to locate & calculate on graph.

Thanks & Regards
