When your client says 20 mm is not acceptable, then pl. find out what is their acceptable norms.
Calculate the total width of cap run and use 3 layers in place of 2 layer deposit.
This will help to increase the travel speed (due to reduced width of each layer) and also avoid NCRs.

in my problem we are welded so many joints for FCAW welding weaving width for single layer 20-25 mm (using multi 2 layer welding totaly caping width 45-48 mm ).But our client said this is not allowable .they make NCR.
