Ankit,
Unfortunately the applicable maximum qualification range for procedure qualification, with HT above the upper critical temperature is 1.1T. Please see the earlier code(2005) clarification as attached. It's available through google search.
PWHT above upper critical temperature e.g Normalizing or Quenching & Tempering (for CS and LAS) or Solution annealing (for 300 series of S.S), could cause serious changes in mechanical properties. If the thickness of the coupon is high the differences in mechanical properties in through thickness will be quite pronounced.
Hence the qualification range for such PWHT is restricted to 1.1T max.
Thanks.

Subject: [MW:13230] regarding thickness qualification as per ASME sec-IX
Dear Experts,
Is there any provision for thickness qualification as per sec-IX while doing heat treatment in upper Transformation range?
As per clause no-407.4 in Sec-IX, it indicates that if ur test piece receives heat treatment in upper transformation range then the thk qualificatin reduces to 1.1 times of thk instead of 2T.
I want to know that i want qualification of 2T instead of 1.1T while doing HT in upper transformation range.
Kindly give ur opinion for that
Is there any provision for thk qualification for this, so i can get 2T Qualification while doing HT in upper transformation range.
Regards,
Ankit Khatri
