I am here at V & M Tubes, Germany for the inspection of API 5L X 60Q seamless line pipes for sour services. But for first day production Test (PQT pipes) I am facing following problem in CTOD testing.
1) Initially for the item in the PO , (size is 327.9 mm OD x 12.7 mm Thk x 12.7 m long) the company did the CTOD test (Fracture Test) in transverse direction for first 3 heats (specimen size is B= 7 mm , W = 14 mm , span = 56 mm ) and for last two heats they did in longitudinal direction (specimen size is B= 10 mm W = 20 mm span = 80 mm ) . Now my query is weather we can do this in both direction or not (In MQP it is clearly written that we can do in both direction ) and also as per BS 7448-1:1991 specimen thickness should be material thickness (with exceptions ) so please could you tell me weather it is acceptable or not .
Waiting for your reply .
