[MW:10548] RE: 10546] Wire and Flux

Dear Sir,

 

You can use the following combination:

 

Wire type T-PUT (Böhler Welding) Thermanit JE-308L = AWS SFA A 5.9 : ER 308L

Flux type T-PUT Marathon 213 or T-PUT Marathon 431, unfortunately both fluxes have only EN-ISO 14174 classification and no AWS.

These are respectively SF CS 2 63 DC for Marathon 213 (molten Calciumsilicate) and SA FB 2 64 DC for Marathon 431 (Agglomerated basic).

 

When you need to qualify according to ASME section IX, you can use one of these combinations because of QW-404.9 (c) Wire is classified according to ASME section II part C and flux isn’t qualified. When using one of these combination WPS need to be re-qualified when changing to another flux.

1- I want to know suitable combination between wire and Flux for welding Stainless Steel material by SAW process

SA 240 Tp 304L and please give AWS classification for both.
