Though it has been several years since i lasted used Xylan coatings  here
is what I remember:

Check the thickness of the Xylan Coating
The coating thickness should be in this range

Thickness .0008" - .002" (0.02032mm - 0.0508mm) any thicker and Mud
Cracking will readily occur.

Watch your application temperature , too high and solvent will evaporate
too fast causing a mud cracking even if in the correct thickness range.
