FW: [MW:3681] POSITIONS IN overlaying

Dear Mr. Asghariali.

From ASME Sec-IX, definition of welding positions, the basics welding positions are:-

§     Groove  Weld:-

1.      Flat (1G),

2.      Horizontal(2G)

3.      Vertical(3G)

4.      Overhead(4G)

§     Fillet Welds:-

1.      Flat (1F),

2.      Horizontal(2F)

3.      Vertical(3F)

4.      Overhead(4F)

Same nomenclature and definitions of groove weld position applies for corrosion resistant and hard facing overlays welds also, except that procedures and performance qualification requires to be done on flat plates or pipes as required. Overlay qualification is different from Sec-IX  normal groove weld qualification.

Please see QW-462.5(a) , through,---- to (e), for explanations with diagrams.

Hope this would be of help to you.

Thanks.
