It is a big subject to be covered in one shot in this email. May be
you should look at manufacturer's website which will give more
technical info you might be seeking.

For eg.. www.butting.de

The main subj is the diff. linear expansion of the metals. In refinery
the usual cladding material is SS321 or high nickel alloys where
extreme corrosion and temperature exists. And I have not come across
the mechanically fitted pipes as you refered. The application of this
type of pipes always call for bonded type.
