Senthil,
If performance qualification to be carried out as per ASME Sec IX, then pipes like A 106, A 333 Gr 6 or API 5L X42/ X46 / X52 also acceptable.
All these are similar in composition (P1 or S1 group).
I did not understand what to clarify in ''API 5L X56 is equal to All combination of P1 - P11, P34, P4X and unassigned metal of similar chemical composition to these metals'. Is it a quote from the code or else.
Regards,
Sanjeevan

Senthil,Welder qualification as per which code ASME sec IX or API 1104 or any other standard/specification?Normally Grade/ strength of material is not an essential variable for welder performance qualification.Nearly equivalent material is A 381 Grade Y56 (S1 Group) & A 671 grade CK75 (p1 group).best regards,Sanjeevan----- Original Message -----From: SENTHILKUMAR SWAMINATHANSent: Thursday, August 07, 2008 9:25 AMSubject: [MW:996] Equivalent Material
Dear Sir,
1) I want to conduct Welder qualification test on this pipe material API 5L X56, what is equivalent material in ASME? Due to non availability of Actual material
2) I want to conduct Welder qualification test on this plate material BS EN 10025 Part 3 S355 NL material, what is equivalent material in ASME? Due to non availability of Actual material
