RE: [MW:10211] Re: Combination of GTAW & SMAW PQR for a WPS.

QW-200.4(b) is applicable when qualification of WPSs for root deposits only may be made for higher thickness in combination

Otherwise in your case you can write a combination (GT+SM) WPS for 5.0-14.22mm

What is the MTC states if it states as 1/2" (12.7mm) then it can be accepted, otherwise it has to be 13mm minimum

Yes, you can use these welders in combination as per the qualification limits for WPS as well as WPQ

Hi all

I cleared with case 2, i can use welder in combination if they
qualified seprately.

&
@ karthik sir,

If we put seprate PQR in 12.70 mm thick = to 1/2 inch.
case 1 is possible r not?
& as per qw 200.4, pl clear me 12.70mm thickness is acceptable as 1/2
inch or not
& else may we have to go for 13 mm & above only.

@ others comments r welcomed..

As per ASME sec 9
PQR 1 - GTAW T - 7.11mm , 1.5 to 14.22mm - A106 Gr.B
PQR 2 - SMAW T - 12.70mm, 5 to 25.4mm - A 106 Gr.B
No PWHT & No toughness.
My doubt is,1) is it possible to combine the above WPS to make GTAW &
SMAW combination.?
If possible wats thickness range.?
2) & Regardless of WPS,
My welder is qualified with Tig Process & Arc Process in seprately,
Is it possible to put them in production for Same A106gr.b material in
combination like Tig root & Arc Filler.
If it not possible. Pl tell me para which restricts this.
& 3) if we have to go as per 200.4b, if i thk 12.70mm 1/2 Inch.. is ok with that or else must to go for 13mm & above.
pl comment on above..
