Re: FW: [MW:17273] Re: ASME SA 333 Gr. 6 Chemical composition

Dear Experts,

Refer to the below ASME specification identical to ASTM std. which is to be follow up for SA333 Gr. 6 Pipe. The trace element will be present in the material. Need the expert advice for the Trace element limit or acceptance criteria.

SPECIFICATION FOR TEST METHODS, PRACTICES, AND TERMINOLOGY FOR CHEMICAL ANALYSIS OF STEEL PRODUCTS

SA-751

7. Unspecified Elements (Note 4)

7.1 Reporting analyses of unspecified elements is permitted.

NOTE 4 — All commercial metals contain small amounts of various elements in addition to those which are specified. It is neither practical nor necessary to specify limits for every unspecified element that might be present, despite the fact that the presence of many of these elements is often routinely determined by the producer.

Please refer to the below ASME Sec. VIII Div. 1 UG.10

(a) Chemical analyses are made on different pieces from the lot to establish a mean analysis that is to be accepted as representative of the lot. The pieces chosen for analysis shall be selected at random from the lot. The number of pieces selected shall be at least 10% of the number of pieces in the lot, but not less than three. For lots of three pieces or less, each piece shall be analyzed. Each individual analysis for an element shall conform to the limits for product analysis in the permitted specification, and the mean for each element shall conform to the heat analysis limits of that specification. Analyses need only be made for those elements required by the permitted specification. However, consideration should be given to making analyses for elements not specified in the specification but that would be deleterious if present in excessive amounts.

Thanks & Regards,

Mohd. Azam
