Re: [MW:16678] UT- DAC curve preparation.

dear Sandeep

you use only 45degre 4Mhz for high sensitivity ( for use only higher frequency, my idea)

what about DAC reflector size ?

you draw DAC from 75mm and take   Range : ( your job beam path x 1.25)

and

you increase  curvature  correction  4 db

and

what about curvature  correction Db ?

above all parameters is very important for pipe scanning,

if you have any doubt you call me. / send a mail

Dear Friend,

Use 45 Deg probe With 2Mhz and draw DAC upto thickness 100 mm )1/2 to 1 1/2 skip distance ) if there is DAC block on hand ,den try to draw DAC by cathing edge( ends ) of the Specimen

i think it might help u .

Dear Experts,

We are doing UT in 50 to 100mm thick circumferential joints of pipes using 75mm thick Non piping DAC block (The same has been accepted by client). UT operator is preparing DAC curves (for angle probes) catching echoes directly from side drilled holes (¼ t and ½ t) and catching ¾ t SDH echo after bouncing from opposite side.

Our scanning area on weld joint is ½ to 1 ½ skip for 100mm thick weld joint but the DAC curve which is prepared as mentioned above, does not cover most of the scanning and I feel that most of echoes from discontinuity is missing due to the same problem.

Please advise me to resolve this confusion
