Re: [MW:16660] Required PQR Test Help

Is it your WPS need to be PWHT?. Supplementary essential variable. Then   what kind of project you prepared for this WPS?. Is it needed for back gouging?. 400 mm x 300 mm shall be ok for all testing that you mention. A516 Gr 70 shall be ok for charpy -46deg. Make sure your consumable use also high in charpy value. E7018-1 check this electrode.

Dear Experts,

Our company is going to make a new PQR and WPS but since I am new at ASME sec IX and B31.3, I would like to verify my tests before doing them.

So PQR specs are;

Thickness                              10mm (WPS qual. 10-15mm)

Mat                                        Plate - SA516 Gr60 & SA516 Gr70 (this will qualify bot P1G1 and P1G2 mats right?)

Preheat                                  38°C Min(client spec)

Interpass Temp                       250°C Max

PWHT                                   620°C (120min, 100°C/hr)

Pos                                       3G

Type                                      GTAW + SMAW

Tests:

2              Tensile Test

2              Face Bend Test

2              Root Bend Test

4              Side Bend Test (Do we need this?)

5?           Toughness Test (Charpy V-Noch at -46 C is enough?)

Hardness

Radiography

And the other thing is how big test coupon should I weld to get these tests.
