RE: [MW:10201] Reducing Flange

In my opinion both are acceptable as long it meets the flange dimensions of 2” and weld end dimensions of 1”, refer para 3.3 of ASME/ANSI B16.5 (notes on referred appendix states hub dia may be one size smaller)

Subject: [MW:10194] Reducing Flange

Dear All,

Please find attached the photograph of the two 2" X 1" Reducing Flange and advice if we can use both these flanges. Please note the difference in both these flanges as below:-

1. Photo 1 Reducing Flange 2"X1" in this flange the Hub bigger diameter is as of standard 2" flange and it is further reduced to 1" so that 1" pipe can be welded on this flange.

2. Photo 2 Reducing Flange 2"X1" in this flange the Hub bigger as well as smaller diameters are as of standard 1" flange so that 1" pipe can be welded on this flange.

Now I request you all to please advise if we can use both these flanges without any deviation from the code.

Regards

Vinod Kataria
