Re: [MW:34338] Changing filler from er316l to er308

Thanks for the quick response.

The operating pressure is 800 kpag at 30 degrees C
The Designed pressure is 1000Kpag at 100degrees C

Kindly clarify will any sort of test is applicable to prepare WPS now. (I don't want to go in any extra procedures)

Dear Experts

We have prepared SS PQR with 316 PIPE and ER316L filler

Right now we have project of SS304 to SS304 1 1/2"pipe welding for flocculant service.

As changing filler classification from PQR to WPS is supplementary variable as per ASME SEC IX.

Can I use my SS PQR 316 to prepare wps for ss304 to ss304 by changing only filler material to er308 (in pqr it is er316L) as both material falls in same P no and group no.

Can I strongly justify my point of changing filler classification er316L to er 308 in wps without undergoing any additional testing or procedures.

Kindly suggest the strong points with standards if any.

Thank you in advance
