Re: [MW:26493] RE: WELD DISTANCE AS PER ASME [**EXTERNAL**]

Dear Sir,

The distance between two weld joints should be 4 times the pipe wall thickness or one time the diameter of pipe but never closer than 1.5 inch. This is supposedly to prevent the overlap of HAZ of two joints.

Thanks and regards,
Pavankumar Reddy.

you can repair the same, provided you have a repair procedure,& a suitable Welding procedure. what is the minimum thickness required after forming, whether you are achieving the same before repair.

[MW:26476] Re: stainless steel flange face damage

Rameez,

Look at ASME B16.5 flange face sections carefully.

Depth of allowable defects, especially axial ones are very small.

Normally you need to weld repair overlay and then re-mill to get the face acceptable.

[MW:26476] WPS QUALIFICATION

Dear experts,

Good morning

Myself shanky gupta working with L&T Modular fabrication yard, Sohar Oman.
I'm in a bit confusion about applicable edition in WPS. In our case project cut off date is 31st march 2015 so that all international codes also applicable earlier to cutoff.

Now our WPS are approved as per AWS D1.1 edition 2015 but as per cut off date it should be in edition 2010.

Please suggest me for this.
