[MW:25068] Re: PWHT confirmation

Yes it is true that by physical appearance (Next day after PWHT), one can say that PWHT is done for CS welds. However, effectiveness of PWHT can also be verified by production hardness test…Let client witness hardness test.

If you want to do PWHT more than one time for reason of weld repair or any other, base materials & welding consumables shall be simulated for the more than one time heat treatment to ensure it retaining mechanical properties after required cycle of PWHT.

Sometimes job PQR also reflects additional PWHT once, twice, thrice..... as required. Generally it is shown in PQR with extra holding time.

Hi experts,

Contractors carried out the PWHT and graphs available with correct data's.  Due to urgency the contractor has painted and erected. It is CS material.
Now the owner rejected the reports and asking for PWHT again.

Please send me your best answer  if the PWHT is carried again , whether it will affect the welding and material properties and how to prove that PWHT  has been carried out.  How many times the PWHT could be carried out repeatedly.

Please send your replies.

Thanking you.
