Dear friend,
This can be done as there is no code restrictions. If the joint is failed all the welders are considered to be failed.
For bigger diameter pipes say, 60" which is usually welded by more than one welder this can be accepted.
The concept of the production weld is to understand the ability of the welder in a real job situation. So on that basis try to avoid using multiple welders in one production joint.

Can multiple welders weld in a single production joint in same process and position?
Kindly clarify me with reference ASME standards if any.
