Dear Mr.George ,

Let me explain my query more clearly.

One of our Pressure Vessel to be constructed with SA 106 Gr.B Pipe of 10" and SA-234 WPB Seamless Cap of same 10", as per ASME Sec VIII Div-1, 2015 Ed.

So, to perform 1" Nozzle opening on the Cap , referring to the below sketch,
can I consider the Cap as a 2:1 Ellip. Head, using 0.9 Crown radius to use in the formula, inorder to find the Arc Length.

Please see the attached file, for the calculation which I made to get Arc Length .

Hope you will understand .

Sorry for the inconveniences caused.

Regards,
Saravanan

Dear Design Experts,

With reference to the attached sheet for 1" Nozzle Marking on a 10" Sch 20 SA-234 WPB Seamless Cap for a pressure Vessel construction as per ASME Sec VIII , Div-1, 2015 Ed ,

My query is, can we consider the Seamless CAP ( ASME B16.9 ) as same as 2:1 Ellipsoidal Head for the Nozzle marking calculation, provided in the attachment for opening , inorder to find Arc length.

Also, I need reference to consider Cap as 2:1 Ellip. Head in ASME Code.

Regards ,
Saravanan
