Dear All,
few additional nozzles of 6" & 8" to be installed for tanks(22mtr-dia,
30 mtr ht API 650) which have completed hydro test. sub-contractor is
suggesting to penetrate the shell & to do the welding of nozzle to
that, after wards they will cut a rectangular portion around the
nozzle and will do PWHT externally. we were proposing to do the PWHT
locally (on the shell itself) in order to avoid the un-necessary
cut-out. but fearing of distortion of other part of shell & joints,
sub-con didnt agree. Kindly share your views & guidelines on this
issue.
thanks in advance,
Kumar.
