Dear Experts,
Some expertise advices are needed on the following subject.
We supply SS FCAW E310T1-1 with a modified specification of %Mn (4.4%) as compared to standard AWS A5.22M E310T1-1 specification to a customer.
Customer was using this SS FCAW E310T1-1 wire to weld on a 12.7mm plate of ASME SA240 310H and found crack, mostly occurred at the end of the weld.
Summary of chemical composition of plate given by manufacturer is
C (0.044%), Mn (1.49%), Si (0.56%), P(0.032%), S(0.001%), Cu(N/A), Ni(19.1%), Cr(24.1%), Mo (N/A), N (0.068%)
Summary of chemical composition of E310T1-1 wire given by manufacturer is
C (0.1%), Mn (4.43%), Si (0.61%), P(0.024%), S(0.001%), Cu(0.21%), Ni(20.1%), Cr(25.7%), Mo (0.13%)
At this stage, no welding ampere and voltage have been given. How should we help customer to troubleshoot on this matter and perhaps advise them some practical technical approaches to minimise the crack formation if not eliminated it.
Many thanks,
Chung
