-- -on which side you are : either client side or manufacturer / contractor side
-how much you are worried about quality of welds
-situation : of there is only SS work is going on and only one grade and brand of consumable is being used, then it may not required (if specified in client spec then its mandatory)
- Many times manufacturers involved in SS fabrication use lower grade consumables for welding and overlay, hence it is necessary to verify the correct grade (use of 308 instead of 309, 347, 316 welds)
