Re: [MW:14375] Re [MW 14364] Welder qualification of Lower diameter

Dear peter paul,

According to this, the welder should qualified above 2.5"(inch)O.D.... He should weld (qualified) upto unlimited outer dia of pipe.(O.D).But it should be differ from thickness of pipe.....

Thanks & Regards

Dear Expert,

Please advise me (clear my doubt) if my 6G Welder can carry-out the work with the following info . My welder qualification is at 3.5" (OD)[WT=12.7mm]. While the actual work is 4"OD [WT=8.56 mm(Sch 80)].

I will allow my welder to carry-out welding with the concession of monitoring his progress by NDT-RT. How often do I take RT? (is it 10% of his weld joint as per BS and ASME std?) Please revert and advise. Thank you!

Respectfully yours,

Peter Paul
