[MW:14391] RE: 14382] Hardfacing overlay on SA 572 GR 50 PLATE by IRON BASE RODS

You will probably find that a hard facing alloy does not fit any of the chemistry range requirements of QW-422.  However, QW-255.1, “Welding Variables Procedure Specifications (WPS) Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW and FCAW)” does not require an A number.  The classification or trade name of the filler metal (QW-404.12) is an essential variable.  Thus, for example, if your procedure qualification hardfacing filler metal was ConformaClad 700® , which is a proprietary alloy without classification, you may only perform the production overlay with Conforma Clad 700®.  If on the other hand you used Stellite 6® , classified as SFA/A .21 ERCCoCr-A, you could use any hard facing filler metal classified SFA/A .21 ERCCoCr-A.

Subject: [MW:14382] Hardfacing overlay on SA 572 GR 50 PLATE by IRON BASE RODS

Dear All,

Greetings.

A hardfacing overlay has to be carried out on  A572 GR 50 Plate by FCAW - Semiautomatic Process as per ASME SEC IX.

rod used will be iron based.

please inform me what will be the SFA No. how we can decide A No.

Please give code reference.

Thanks & Regards
