[MW:4607] RE: 4606] RE: 4605] Welding consumable for SS 329

Dear Mahmood,

The UNS number for SS 329 is UNS S32900. Refer to ASTM/ ASME A/SA240,
against grade 329.

This grade is one of the oldest DSS group which is having higher carbon
content ie. 0.08% compared to recent DSS, maximum of 0.03 to 0.04.

The recommended filler metal can be either E/ER2209 or E/ER2553. It is
suggested to use E/ER2553 at root and subsequent passes with E/ER2209.

As for as welding point of view, the heat input should be restricted to
1 to 1.5KJ/mm in order to avoid slow cooling.
